Media outreach, key messages and more for National Foster Care Month

April 24, 2019

In support of recruitment during National Foster Care Month, the Office of Children, Youth and Families (OCYF) has created a 2019 National Foster Care Month toolkit and social media calendar. These resources are available to help you raise awareness during National Foster Care Month. Additional resources for foster and adoptive parent recruitment are also available, and continually updated, in the foster parent recruitment toolkit and adoption recruitment toolkit.
As in past years, the Colorado Department of Human Services (CDHS) will recognize five foster families at a private event at the Governor’s Mansion on May 11, 2019. Thank you to all of the individuals, counties and child placement agencies who nominated a family to be recognized during May. This event will be leveraged to earn media coverage. Additionally, marketing collateral, including social media memes, videos and printed materials, will be developed featuring these five families. Key messages are available online to support counties, child placement agencies and partners in responding to local media requests.

The Children's Bureau also provides awareness resources for National Foster Care Month.
