Support and Training
Every parent needs a support network, and parenting children and teens who have experienced abuse and neglect requires training. Find support resources, training and learn from others who have been there.
Child Welfare Training System
The Child Welfare Training System provides foster, kinship and adoptive parents free required core training in a day-and-a-half course as well as ongoing learning opportunities, throughout Colorado and online. The training system staff believe in those who are called to child welfare. They believe relationships matter, from the conference room to the living room and are devoted to exploring, understanding, appreciating and attending to you and your learning needs.
Parent Partner blog
The CO4Kids Parent Partner blog is dedicated to the many families partnering with the Colorado child protection system to care for children and youth. This news source amplifies the voice and needs of adoptive parents, foster parents, relatives and family networks within the child welfare system. The blog features stories and experiences from Colorado families, learning opportunities and resources, and parenting advice.
Fostering can be the most rewarding and most challenging work that you ever do. Seek support during the good times, so you have a network available during the tough times. Find a support group through the county or child placement agency that certified you. You can also find support groups online from The Adoption Exchange or the Colorado State Foster Parent Association.
